MIAMI ART BASELÂ
YOUTH CONCEPT GALLERY
community set design
In December 2019 Christina Lee and I traveled from Chattanooga Tennessee to Miami Florida with three sets we built. We packed them up along with all our props to the point we could barely see out of the windows and took the 786 mile drive to happiness. We left with intentions of taking photos of all the beautiful people who live in the Miami community. Little did we know we would mainly get children, honestly this was the best surprise ever.
We wanted to give the people living here a day to reflect of the importance of self love by loving them in a unique way.
Christina and I decided we wanted to work in a park near the downtown area, with hopes we could work with a community that would also embrace us and our idea.
The Youth Concept Gallery did just that. With open arms they let us create our large scale sets in their community park. The gallery works with the incarcerated youth in the area, the families involved in these photos knew this community well and was happy to have us there.

Christina Lee and I worked majority on the set (building frames, painting, and creating back drops) while we had help from friends we especially had help from Rebecca Ford who came with us and alongside Christine Lee provided make up and styling to everyone waiting in line. This day was magical to say the least, we would be so honored to do it again in any community that will have us!
